ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client, an international multi-entity group, is building a security-critical, privacy-first information system on its own on-premise infrastructure: hardened mobile and desktop applications, hardware-key authentication, legally isolated data for each group entity, and self-hosted finance and AI capabilities.
The programme is delivered by a senior, multi-disciplinary team working in two-week agile sprints, with compartmentalised access and a strong culture of security by design.
WORK ARRANGEMENT
This position is based in Madagascar. Given the nature of the role, it involves on-site work at the client's data center sites, with travel paid by the client.
THE ROLE
Build two on-premise data center sites from the ground up – power, cooling, connectivity, physical security – run the acceptance soak tests and hand over to the SRE team. Travel is paid by the client.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Design and build two data center sites, including solar power, dual batteries and automatic transfer switches.
● Install N+1 cooling, racks, fibre / eSIM / Starlink connectivity and physical access control.
● Set up segregated areas for HSMs and the GPU room with network isolation.
● Run 24-hour soak tests and the commissioning checklist.
● Hand over to the SRE team and produce full data center documentation.
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
● Off-grid solar power, batteries, ATS, N+1 cooling.
● Fibre, eSIM, Starlink.
● Racks, biometric access control, DCIM.
● Bash/Python for PDU / ATS / sensors (nice to have).

Ways of working | ● Work independently on data center build tasks. ● Write data center reports and documentation. ● Willingness to handle hardware: YubiKeys, HSMs, air-gapped machines, phone flashing. ● Comfortable working with compartmentalised access. ● Proactive, requiring minimal supervision or mentoring. ● Proactive in identifying potential problems and implementing solutions. ● Efficient time management and respect of deadlines. ● Practical experience with agile software development methods. |
